Dear Low Carb Fit Femme's I hope my message finds you well. Most years hubby and I always try to do something special on Valentine's Day and this year was no different. This year I was a little bit more concerned about keeping it together than previous years and the reason for this is that I have committed to something totally new and different.
Since last winter, I have been a couple of kg over and above my goal weight and despite a certain degree of accountability from 1 or 2 buddies on Fatsecret, I've just really struggled to get back to where I need to be. Those last few kilograms always seem to be the hardest and the most stubborn! Three days ago on the 13th of February I joined dietbet.com DietBet is a website that allows you to bet money on your own weight loss. Typical bets run in a range of $25-$50. The more players, the larger the pot. Once your game starts, you have one month to lose 4% of your body weight. If you win, you split the pot. I've never been fond of betting but I figured this might just be the kick up the booty that I need. I need to get rid of 2.9kg in 4 weeks and have already decided I am definitely not losing and will write a full review on my experience once everything is said and done. Watch this space!
Anyway so last week hubby asked me to book at a restaurant of my choice for Valentines; and I decided over the weekend that I would have astrategy in place to avoid any unnessary weight gain. I decided that I would have tea, coffee and water during the day and when we go in the
evening I would choose to have the 250g Fillet with a Madagascan Green Peppercorn Sauce and the options on the side are chips, baked potatoe, mash, vegetables ora Greek Salad. I opted for the Greek Salad....oh and two glasses of dry red wine. Naughty I know, but it just wouldn't be the same if I couldn't have my vino!
evening. I certainly didn't feel deprived and despite hubby and I having the same meal, didn't even feel slightly tempted by his chips. We both felt satisfied and it was not necessary to have a dessert.
When I hopped on the scale this morning my weight was exactly the same as the previous day and I have proven to myself that it is indeed possible to have a wonderful meal out, with alcohol I might add without sabotaging your weight loss goals. Yes Siree!
Here are my macro's for the day:
Fat: 59. gm
Protein: 64. gm
Carbs: 24. gm
Total Calories: 1288
I've been low carbing since 2011 and it's been a quite a process to establish what my inflammatory foods are; and now having this knowledge has empowered me and I also feel safe in the knowledge that I can still enjoy life, while making good choices, without any deprivation what so ever.
I hope that I have inspired you and that you too may embrace this wonderful way of living that makes you not only look good but feel good too!
Yours in low carb.
